I downloaded from Hp the SoundMAX audio drivers as this is what i had previuosly, upon running the driver setup it came up with an error that no drivers were present and to try setup again after rebooting.

Check internxl audio settings sometimes there is a setting for letting audio only out of the rear ports. Ha Ha check what settings you have it on open realtek hd sound manager and click sound effects restore to default its probably that simple lol!!
